Is LeBron the self proclaimed “king” like he says?

When it comes to doing good things and inspiring the youth to play in the NBA, LeBron is at the top of the list. He has done an unimaginable amount of charity work for his home town(Akron), including his iPromise school (even though it is funded mostly by the city) is a great way to give an educational experience. But when it comes to Lebron’s character… its definetely questionable.

LeBron is very active in his kids lives, with this he is put under the spotlight. LeBron as a father has done some questionable things. He has been seen dunking in the lay-up lines and celebrating on the court at his kids basketball games. There are many ways to support your kids but I don’t think showing off your basketball skills at their middle school games is a way to do so. This is LeBron’s crave for attention, where he needs to be front and center even at his kids games. LeBron has also stated that “I’ve got very mature 14- and 11-year-olds,” he continued. “My 14- and 11-year-olds drink wine.” Although drinking wine may make you seem more mature, 11 and 14 years old is a little young to be drinking alcohol.

A few years ago LeBron made a couple comments about president Donald Trump. He said being president is “The No. 1 job in America, the appointed person is someone who doesn’t understand the people,” Responding to these comments was a Fox News host named Laura Ingraham, who is know for telling celebrities to not talk about politics. She proceeded to tell LeBron that someone who barely graduated high school should not give out political advice and he needs to just shut up and dribble. In response to this LeBron says he means too much to the youth of America to just shut up, so he came up with the tagline “more than an athlete” to further extend his point. Fast forward to present day, almost two years later where t-shirts, hoodies, and even shoes are sill being worn and sold by LeBron with the tagline on them. It’s unclear why LeBron completely exaggerated these comments by Ingraham, could it be that he wanted the attention by being a victim? Possibly.

In the most recent controvercy over Lebron was the comments he made back in October 2019. When in China for a series of exhibition games Houston Rockets General Daryl Morey posted a tweet of him supporting the current fight for freedom that was taking place in Hong Kong. When returning home LeBron said that Daryl was misinformed or he did not understand the consequences that could have come from the tweet, and that it could have harmed a large amount of people. LeBron also said how it was a difficult week for him and his team. This shows how LeBron is worried more about himself and doesn’t care about the millions of people in Hong Kong fighting for their freedom

This doesn’t mean that LeBron is a terrible father or a communist, but it definitely causes me to question his character.
